The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts Collection
Since its founding in 1988, the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts has been committed to constructing the full picture of Taiwan's history of art and expanding the Museum collection of artworks accordingly. Over the years, we have accumulated a vast collection of important documents and great works of art from the past and present through purchase, transfer from other government institutions and donations. Our collection includes documents from the Ming and Ching Dynasties and works of art from the era of Japanese rule, the Modernist period and the era following the Second World War . Together, these great works of art can be seen to construct a conceptual map of the trajectory of Taiwan's art history. Building a fine collection of artworks is in fact central to our Collection Department's ongoing commitment to preservation of Taiwan's arts and cultural heritage, establishment of a comprehensive resource and research center for Taiwanese art, and support for the Museum's exhibitions and educational programs as well as promoting international artistic exchange. The original collection storage National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts covers a total area of 2,775 square meters, 11,187 square meters and the storage was new collection completed and started using since December 13 2015 . The Collection Department has a specialized photography room and a repair room to ensure ideal storage and environmental conditions for works of art. The Museum has used RFID technology to automate the process of tracking and managing our collection of artworks, in order to achieve the highest level of modernization in the management of our art collection and to maximize accessibility of information.
